Lateral Lab was founded by artist Elizabeth Ogilvie in 2012 and is based at Sea Loft, her inspiring Fife home and studio overlooking the Forth estuary. The organisation has registered charitable status (SC043880) and is supported by a voluntary Board. At its core Lateral Lab aims to explore, investigate and promote appreciation of art, science and the natural environment to contribute to a vision of a sustainable future. Activities for the public and artists are project-based and delivered through a range of national and international partnerships. In the spirit of the late Robert Callender, creating a long-running residency programme has provided international exchange experience for young artists enhanced by a legacy of exhibitions and networking. Operating without core staff, Lateral Lab also provides curatorial and educational opportunities.
